My First Home Office Tour

This room has seen quite the transformation..When we first moved into our 90’s cookie-cutter home, we staged this space as the builders had intended it..a “formal” living room. The longer we lived in our home, the more we realized we had no use for another seating area. It’s not a huge home and we already have a family room, a loft, and we’ll eventually finish our basement with a large comfy sectional.

Enter…my new home office! The “After” photo above shows my office in its entirety (it’s pretty small) from our entryway. I designed this space with a modular office collection from Arhaus to maximize storage and make it as multi-purpose as possible. I now have somewhere to work and to relax with a book!

To create a cohesive, neutral color story, I removed the dust covers on all of my books and flipped the binding of those that were ‘off’ towards the back of the shelf. It drives my husband crazy that you can’t read all of the titles, but he’s not really the reader in the house, so I still went with it!

I’ve collected vases, planters, decorative boxes and other objects in various shades of ivory, gold, and grey to provide variety.

Pillows are a necessity in almost every room! They are the simplest way to soften a space and it’s also really easy to swap them out when you’re ready for a change of pace.

I try to add a variation of fresh and faux plants and flowers throughout my home. My thumb just started to turn bit green and I’ve had better luck keeping my real plants alive recently.

I still consider this room to be somewhat of a work-in-progress; I’d love to lighten the wall color and update our occasional chairs. While I do love these chairs, so has my dog! A high performance fabric may be in our future!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this preview of my home office and I can’t wait to hear what you think!

‘Til next time,

Stephanie
